Traveling with kids can be an exciting and enriching experience, but also stressful and exhausting. As a mom who loves adventure, it's important to be prepared with the right travel accessories to make the journey smoother and more enjoyable for both you and your kiddos. Here are the top 10 must-have travel accessories for adventurous moms:

  1. Disinfectant - Use disinfectant wipes for the armrests, tray table, and seatbelt buckles on the plane. They're also useful for hotel remote controls. Hand sanitizer is essential on my travel accessories list, and I carry it throughout the entire trip. https://amzn.to/4gFV0f1 https://amzn.to/41XNiZn

  2. Pedialyte - Stay hydrated! Traveling can lead to dehydration, so I always carry Pedialyte packs and make sure everyone drinks at least one serving daily. https://amzn.to/40lko42

  3. Trash Bags- It might sound unusual, but I favor trash bags instead of dirty laundry bags. Trash bags are larger, and I can simply throw them away when we return home. I place one or two trash bags in everyone's luggage for carrying dirty clothes, wet clothes, wet shoes, and I keep an extra trash bag for our vacation spot. They can also cover rental car seats for protection if someone gets wet, serve as a vomit bag, and have countless other uses. Opt for scented bags to keep your clothes smelling fresh. https://amzn.to/4a3MJPA

  4. Snacks - Each person receives a large zip storage bag for snacks. I ensure there's a combination of healthy and indulgent snacks. I also include satisfying snacks like granola bars. We carry our snacks during the trip because hungry kids are grumpy kids. Remember to pack lollipops and chewy candies for the flight to help with ear pressure. https://amzn.to/3BZ1k2f

  5. Travel Cord Organizer - I make sure each device has its own charging cable and adapter. By the end of the day, everyone will want to charge their devices simultaneously. https://amzn.to/4j1OdxW

  6. Reusable Water Bottle- We consistently bring our own reusable water bottles. However, we often purchase a case of bottled water too, since water filling stations are not easily accessible. https://amzn.to/3BLG8wF

  7. Inflight entertainment options include books for reading, coloring, activities, and puzzles. Books are compact and easy to pack. My children often get bored and frequently change activities. If your journey involves extensive driving, my kids enjoy using car trip bingo cards. https://amzn.to/3DHJ0uV

  8. First Aid Kit - You can either buy one or assemble your own. I consistently include pain relievers/fever reducers (such as Ibuprofen, acetaminophen), ginger chews, chewable antacids, allergy medications, Band-Aids, vitamins, tea bags, and cough drops. https://amzn.to/4a5VWHa

  9. Backpack - Nearly all airlines permit a personal item for free, and sometimes even a carry-on without extra cost. It would be crazy not to take advantage of this. Therefore, I ensure each member of my group has a backpack containing two outfits, their devices, device accessories, power banks, snacks, a refillable water bottle, disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer, and any inflight entertainment. If a carry-on is allowed, pack one for each person to reduce your checked luggage. https://amzn.to/3PsnrRy

  10. Airport shoes- This is a luxury, but I prefer to be comfortable while traveling. I also bring along refreshing spray, eye patch masks, and aromatherapy lotion. https://amzn.to/4gFzV4h

An honorable mention goes to packing cubes and vacuum-sealed bags. I've experimented with both, but truthfully, I favor rolling my outfits. I select a full outfit for each day (pants, shirt, underwear, socks) and roll it up. This method is fantastic for the kids too. In the morning, simply grab a roll and get dressed. Naturally, I pack a few extras in case of weather changes or if I need to dress up an outfit, but I've found that rolling is the most effective method.

If you are traveling with little littles consider packing a backpack diaper bag, portable travel highchair, jogging stroller, car seat, and/or travel crib.
